Industry News: Rising number of disabled Americans means higher demand for therapy services According to a recent article in Medical News Today, which references a U.S. Census Bureau report, one in five U.S. residents reported a disability in 2005. That equals 19% of the population and 12% were classified as having a severe disability. The increasing number of disabled Americans coupled with the growing population of aging baby boomers and geriatrics means that more people are in need of therapy services for longer periods of time. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts that therapy jobs will increase up to 16% through 2016. Read more...
